"Life isn't about waiting for the winds to change...it's about learning to adjust your sails"

LifePsycle is a Clinical Psychology service working with children, adolescents and adults experiencing psychological difficulties, distress or discomfort. With some individuals this may present as a change or extremes of behaviour, a physical health condition(s) or unexplained physical symptoms. In others it may be expressed as, for example, stress, anxiety and/or depression.Based just outside Bath in north-east Somerset, we provide evidenced based support and treatment either Online or, by arrangement for individuals within in the Bristol – Bath – Frome area, face-to-face sessions.

We recognise that many things influence our overall wellbeing. Psychological health is the foundation on which we build our physical health, personal, educational or career aspirations. We have significant experience working with individuals experiencing mild to significant emotional, psychological or behavioural difficulties. We also have specialist knowledge in supporting those with congenital, long-term or acute physical ill-health conditions, as well as those requiring additional support due to neuro-diverse or mobility considerations.

In addition to our Clinical Psychology service we are also able to offer Career guidance and support to those in education, seeking employment, looking to change roles or their career path. Although a separate service, we have found that psychological wellbeing and our career have a meaningful relationship to our resilience and ability to cope with life challenges.  Each service is private and confidential, and you can seek support from either or both..

We also keen to work with organisations that wish to put health and wellbeing as a core value in supporting their workforce to thrive. We tailor specifically to the needs of your organisation, in fostering psychological wellbeing and resilience within teams and the organisation as a whole. Our priority is to promote psychological wellbeing in addressing organisational challenges. For more information click here.

"We do not see the world as it is, we see it as we are"

Anais Nin

In a world that is increasingly complicated, and often from many directions, understanding ourselves and the impact life has had, or is having, on us can seem a very daunting proposition. When our experience leads to distress – whatever label might be given to that distress – finding a safe place to work through and grow beyond what has led us to this point in time can feel overwhelming.A step into the unknown, need not be a jump into the dark.

Genetics, biology and neurosciences are improving our understanding of the mechanisms of psychological distress (i.e. What and How), but explain little of the variation in mental or psychological wellbeing we experience (i.e. Why). Our environment, personal history, social support, and experiences appear to have more of a role to play in why we experience psychological distress, whether labeled as depression, anxiety, stress, trauma or in other terms. Our approach is routed in building a bio-psycho-social understanding of human experience and difficulties: a normal reaction to abnormal circumstances.

Our commitment is to provide a safe and confidential space, either online or in person (local area), in which we can work collaboratively with you to make sense of what has lead you to experiencing psychological difficulties.Together we draw a map of where you are, and how you seem to have got to that point. We then look to identify what change might look like, what might make a difference and what matters to you. Our shared aim is to make that change a reality, laying the foundations to healthy personal growth and enabling you to move beyond your difficulties.

The initial session is 90 minutes, with subsequent sessions 60 minutes in duration. Sessions are between one and four weeks apart, and usually planned during the initial session, but normally range between 4 - 12 sessions. However, sessions can be tailored to individual client's and circumstances.Sessions may adopt a blended or focused approach, commonly within a trauma-informed stance, and may draw on a number of theoretical and evidence based therapeutic approaches including Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Trauma-Focused CBT.

In an increasingly competitive world, our wellbeing in the workplace is both of individual and collective importance.Research illustrates that, for teams and organisations to perform at their best, psychological factors are at the core both at the personal and interpersonal levels. We can spend up to two-thirds, if not more, of our waking hours in the workplace. Organisations, and the individuals that are a part of it, have a mutual benefit in creating an environment where psychological wellbeing is at the heart of their business activity.Contact us to arrange an initial consultation to see if we can help your organisation thrive.
